✨Free set of wheel straps (wheel nets) with purchase, a $49.99 value✨
When you haul a vehicle with a Tow Max Heavy-Duty Car Tow Dolly™, you do it knowing you have the capacity, features, and quality you need to get to your destination safely and with less stress. In other words, you tow with confidence.
Tow Max™ is a two-wheeled car dolly designed to transport cars, trucks, and vans with gross weights up to 4,900 lb. It features a locking safety collar, 6,500-lb rated lashing winches, and 12,000-lb rated nylon tire nets*. Hard-wearing spindles with cast hubs and 14-inch wheels are attached to a 3,000-lb rated axle to create a smooth-rolling trailer. And a powder coat finish helps protect this steel tow dolly from elemental distress and corrosion. What’s more, Tow Max is available with or without brakes.
In most states, brakes and an emergency breakaway system are required by law. Be sure to make researching your state’s towing regulations part of your purchasing process.
Hydraulic Drum Brakes
The Tow Max Heavy Duty Car Tow Dolly + hydraulic surge brakes package includes a Demco hydraulic actuator, Dexter® uni-servo drum brakes, and an emergency breakaway cable. This self-contained system provides greater stopping power than electric brake systems. And, it doesn’t need the assistance of a separate brake controller when slowing or stopping on steep gradients.
Tow Max with hydraulic surge brakes is only available for local pickup in Greenville, SC.†
Electric Drum Brakes
The Tow Max Heavy Duty Car Tow Dolly + electric brakes package features electronically engaged Dextor® drum brakes, backing plates, and an Engager™ breakaway box. This entry-level system provides peace of mind and ample stopping power. If you have or plan to install a brake controller (not included) in your tow vehicle, it will require a 5-, 6-, or 7-pin connector. This dolly is equipped with a 4-pin connector.
Tow Max with electric brakes will be shipped to the nearest freight terminal location.
Idler
If your state doesn’t require brakes, Tow Max Idler™ is the trailer for you. This base-model car tow dolly without brakes boasts the same engineering and aesthetics as the other brake-equipped Tow Max upgrades.
Tow Max without brakes will be shipped to the nearest freight terminal location.

You must check with your automobile’s manufacturer to determine whether your vehicle can be towed using a tow dolly. Things to consider:
- Never tow a vehicle with the rear wheels on the tow dolly.
- Your car’s steering wheel must remain locked when towing. Some vehicles require other settings which will unlock the steering wheel. If this is the case, then you must tie the steering wheel to prevent movement.
- Determine whether your automobile’s transmission should be placed in Park or Neutral. If the transmission must remain in Neutral for towing, then determine the required ignition setting to ensure that the transmission remains in Neutral while towing. If your vehicle’s ignition must remain in the ON position, then see number 2 above.
- Some automobiles require you to disconnect a battery terminal to ensure the automobile remains in Neutral. Again, refer to number 2 above when this is required. You may also be able to accomplish this by removing the ignition fuse. In either scenario, you may lose your automobile’s settings, so you may want to use a memory saver or memory keeper. These plug into your automobile’s 12V power supply/cigarette lighter.
- All-wheel drive automobiles require careful consideration.
